1. MFD was formed on Sept 19, 1892 the
original name was “Monticello Fire Company”
that was change to the present name in 1939.
Locations were in order “ Donna’s Place,
Village Clerks office part of the present
Village hall, Village street Shop at 106 E.
Coates Ave. and present at 412 N Main St.

6. The Security Guards at Jefferson’s
Monticello.

enter service?
7. Engine 1 entered service in 1989 Last
year when we were with out E-1 the
department bowered a “spare from Monroe Fire
Department which was newer than our first
out Engine it is only used for training and
not even stored at their station.
8. Who is the Individual that gave us the
inspiration to start the “Monticello
Collection” and where is he/she from?
8. Galen Logen from Monticello IN. he
contacted us in 1990 and that was the start
of the patch collection idea.
We are in the
process of having this project finely framed
for display at the station a long time
coming but finally done only 2 departments
have not sent oe exchanged patches.

where is the “Monticello Fire Fill Site” # 5
located?
9. M.A.B.A.S. “
Mutual-Aid-Box-Alarm-System” Fill Site #5
is located east of Attica on CO C new sign’s
show locations of all fill sites in Green
County.
10. Which “Monticello” lost a large portion
of its business district in a devastating
fire in the early 1900’s?
10. Monticello N.Y. A fire in 1909 destroyed
74 properties with a value of $ 1,000,000 in
1909 dollars.
11. Which “Monticello” is considered a
“Ghost Town”?
11. Monticello New Mexico a former silver
mining town
12. What is the “Big 4” and what town does
it belong to?
12. The “Big-4” is a old tractor that was
used from 1912 to 1915 to clear land and
thrashing of crops. A drought the next year
sidelined “Big-4” and it was only used
occasionally from then on in 1962 it was
placed in the Monticello Utah City Park. Now
the whole community is involved in restoring
it to running condition. Fewer than 10
Big-4’S are left in running condition.

service at a different department and where

Hard to believe but over 400 people saw the
invite to do this at the Fireman's dinner
and it was a news story in the "Post
Messenger Recorder" and we only had one
